With Takenami We have, in cooperation and long search with a renowned knife maker in Sanjo (Japan) to create our own house brand .
The Sanjo region is known for its long history, tradition and, above all, its good reputation in the production of knife blades.

The Kurouchi series from Takenami is the dream of every young or experienced chef: high-performance carbon steel, rustic and traditional looks and an insanely good price!

Kurouchi will have the rough , dark, oxidized coating which is created when the blade is forged. The blades are relatively slim , which makes these knives incredibly precise. The kitchen knife is finished with a two-part walnut handle and a Pakka ferrule.

Shirogami 2 Carbon steel (white # 2 ) is one of my favorite steels: it can be super easy to sharpen, becomes exceptionally sharp, cuts like silk and is still robust for its hardness . The hard core of the blade is embedded between two layers of softer carbon steel. This provides extra protection. The blade is not rustproof and needs some extra care.

  • HRC: 62-63
