Collection: Tosa - Tadayoshi
The Tosa region on the island of Shikoku is one of the least populated regions in Japan. Nevertheless, The raw conditions of the many dense forests, the traditional fishing industry and the original agriculture have led to the development of a very unique blacksmithing style over the centuries.
This is characterized by the fact that the knives are still forged freehand, without modern tools or other aids. This gives the Tosa knife blades their rustic, original character!
It is also common for the blacksmith, in this case the master blacksmith Tadayoshi-san , to select the materials himself and carry out all the work himself from start to finish. In many other forges, such as Sakai or Echzien, the master only makes the blanks, while someone else does the final processing.
Knives made from Tosa are often made in the so-called "Ryoba" style. This means that the knife is sharpened symmetrically on both sides and is suitable for both left- and right-handed users.
Please note that the blades or handles may have small cosmetic scratches or other imperfections. This does not affect the performance and is part of the so-called Tosa characteristics. In return, I am really happy to be able to offer you such good knives at such a great price!
