Hello! My name is Matthias and I now live in Munich.
I love dogs, tattoos, cooking and of course: Japanese kitchen knives! With my online shop, I've basically turned my hobby into a (part-time) job.
But how did it all actually start?
Itsuo Doi
In February 2023, I had the honor of meeting Sakai blacksmith Itsuo Doi personally in his workshop and watching him at work.
The Doi family has been forging blades for three generations now, using the same technique that has been passed down for centuries. Self-discipline and craftsmanship, along with tradition, have always been an essential part of blade production.


Yoshikazu Tanaka
During my last stay in Japan, I had the opportunity to visit the master blacksmith Yoshikazu Tanaka in his forge in Sakai. Tanaka-san is 72 years old and is still one of the most sought-after masters in Japan.
The day in the forge begins promptly at 8:00 am and ends with a daily shoulder massage at 4:00 pm.
I am proud to offer some of his first-class knives!
