Collection: HADO

Hado is undoubtedly one of the leading knife makers in Japan today.

Even the packaging places great emphasis on quality and design: it was designed in collaboration with the French artist Phillipe Weisbecker.

The heart of Hado, however, are the masterfully forged blades. These are created in the hands of Yoshikazu Tanaka and Shogou Yamatsuka - two renowned blacksmiths in their field. Characteristic of Hado knives are their slightly higher blade shape compared to other knives in this price range, a polished blade back and a carefully crafted throat. The flanks are particularly thin and the craftsmanship is among the cleanest in the industry.

Each knife is given the finishing touches by Tadataka Maruyama, an experienced master sharpener. The result is an exceptional sharpness – right out of the box.

Hado itself was created as a three-person project within Oul Sakai. The knives are extremely popular and often sell out quickly - the waiting list is accordingly long.

Sakai is considered one of the most important centers of Japanese blade manufacturing. The blacksmithing tradition goes back over 600 years and began with the manufacture of weapons for the samurai. A knife from Sakai not only represents the highest quality in the kitchen, but also contributes to the preservation of this centuries-old craft.
