Grit 1000: Your workhorse. Every knife should touch a 1000 grit once. This determines the decisive sharpness for the subsequent grits. This stone grinds quickly and evenly. It is suitable for almost all types of knives. Whether outdoor, pocket or kitchen knives .

Ikyu Shin Nagura: The Ikyu 1000 grit is definitely different from many other stones on the market. Due to its unique manufacturing process and mixing ratio, it feels a bit coarser, gives quick feedback and comes across more like a natural stone compared to many other 1000 grit stones.

This whole series can be compared to the stones from Morihei. Both contain a mix of natural stone powder (Mikawa Nagura) and synthetic material.

The jump from 1000 to 3000 or 6000 feels a bit creamy, but the grinding effect is surprisingly powerful.

The stone is specified as Splash an Go, and although it absorbs little water, I recommend placing the stone briefly in a water bath before grinding.

Synthetic whetstones are classified according to their particle size, which is also known as grit. The lower the grit, the larger the particles, the coarser the stone and the faster it removes material.
