When Japan changed from a feudal state to a capitalist state towards the end of the 19th century, the demand for samurai swords decreased significantly. This meant that the old blacksmiths suddenly found themselves in financial difficulties. But this did not last long, as a few resourceful blacksmiths developed the "Higonokami" (English: short knife).
The Higonokami is a small, slim folding knife with a characteristic thumb lever that prevents accidental closing. This makes the "Higo" a perfect everyday companion that can handle all tasks.
Today, these small blades forged by the fifth generation blacksmith Mitsuo Nagao.
This small pocket knife is your perfect everyday companion. From opening packages to having a snack outside in the woods, it feels at home in every situation.
