Grit 3000: For polishing, maintaining sharpness and making the blade sing. Your first intermediate step in polishing or to achieve a great toothy tomato sharpness. This stone is suitable for almost all types of knives. Whether outdoor, pocket or kitchen knives. Particularly suitable for Japanese knives and carbon steels.
Ikyu Shin Nagura: The 3000 grit is a perfect complement to the 1000 model in this series and is particularly suitable as a finisher for AUS8/10, VG10, Ginsan etc. as well as for maintaining the sharpness of carbon steel. The stone leaves a very "toothy" cutting edge
This whole series can be compared to the stones from Morihei. Both contain a mix of natural stone powder (Mikawa Nagura) and synthetic material.
The jump from 1000 to 3000 or 6000 feels a bit creamy, but the grinding effect is surprisingly powerful.
The stone is specified as Splash an Go, and although it absorbs little water, I recommend placing the stone briefly in a water bath before grinding.
Synthetic whetstones are classified according to their particle size, which is also known as grit. The lower the grit, the larger the particles, the coarser the stone and the faster it removes material.
It is recommended to work with a Nagura when working with this stone.
